Serena Williams a été sanctionée, elle peut risquer d'une intediction pure et simple de disputer un tournoi du Grand Chelem, suite à ses menaces et insultes envers l'arbitre de chaise, la sanction est tombée pour Serena Williams. Finaliste de l'US Open 2011 a été condamnée à une simple amende de... 2000 dollars.

Serena Williams a expliqué en fin de match, "je ne me rappelle plus ce que j'ai dit. C'était intense sur le court, j'étais intense et j'ai tout donné, je ne me souviens pas à quoi je faisais référence (...) Je verrai ça sur Youtube", Serena Williams risque gros puisqu'elle était en période probatoire après avoir perdu sa demi-finale de l'US Open 2009 sur un point de pénalité récolté pour avoir insulté une juge de ligne face à Kim Clijsters. Serena aurait ainsi prononcé des menaces de mort (qu'elle réfute) à l'encontre de la juge de ligne : "Si je pouvais, je prendrais cette balle, je te l'enfoncerais dans la gorge et je te tuerais.

US Open 2011: Sam Stosur beats Serena Williams in controversial final

Sam Stosur won her first Grand Slam title with a stunning victory over Serena Williams in a controversial US Open final.

The ninth seed gave an impressive performance to beat the three-time champion 6-2 6-3 in one hour and 13 minutes at Flushing Meadows.

An outburst from Williams that brought the American a code violation had threatened to overshadow the final.

But a nerveless Stosur continued to dominate and ran out a deserved winner.

The 27-year-old from Queensland becomes the first Australian woman to win the US Open since Margaret Court in 1973.

She went into the final as a considerable underdog, having played in just one Grand Slam final compared to the 13-time major winner Williams, who had not dropped a set in the tournament.

Stosur was clearly not concerned by any of that as she used her strengths, a heavy kick serve and powerful forehand, to take control against a misfiring Williams.

The American has the best serve in the game but making just 35% of first serves in the opening set allowed Stosur to attack the returns and break twice as she took it in 31 minutes.

US Open men's final live Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will meet for the 29th time in the US Open final at Flushing Meadows on Monday.

It will be the pair's third meeting in a Grand Slam championship final; Nadal won in four sets when they contested the rain-interrupted 2010 US Open final, and Djokovic triumphed in four sets when they met in the 2011 Wimbledon final.

Rafael Nadal kept his US Open title defence on track with a 6-2 6-1 6-3 demolition of Andy Roddick to set up a semi-final against Andy Murray.

The world number two raced to a 4-0 lead in the first set and never looked back, breaking three times in the second and once in the third.

Roddick was treated for a leg injury but looked lost for ideas as Nadal beat him in an hour and 53 minutes.

Looking ahead to his meeting with Murray, Nadal said: "It's always a pleasure to play Andy, he's one of the players with the most talent on the tour.

"It's always exciting against him and a big challenge for me. I lost to him in the 2008 semi-finals and I will have to play aggressive, play my best tennis.

US Open 2011: Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray concerned about safety

Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray voiced their disapproval after they were among the players sent out to play in damp conditions at the US Open.

Tuesday's entire schedule was lost to rain but after a 90-minute delay on Wednesday play finally began, only for a halt to be called after 16 minutes.

Briton Murray described the courts as "dangerous" and Nadal said he did "not feel protected" by event officials.

All Wednesday's men's matches were later postponed.

Tournament organisers were hopeful that the night session involving all four women's quarter-finals would still take place at 0000 BST.

"It's dangerous, the lines get really slippy," Murray told ESPN. "Players want to play more than anyone, but not when it's dangerous."

Defending champion Nadal said: "Grand Slams is about a lot of money. We're part of the show. They're just working for that, not for us. They know it's still raining and call us onto the court. That's not possible.

"I understand the fans want to see tennis but the health of the players is the most important and we do not feel protected. We want to feel good when we are playing a tournament and we cannot accept these things.

At roughly 10 to midnight, Roger Federer began his fourth round match against Juan Monaco. As one tweeter so aptly alluded, Roger is probably used to waiting around for the women in his life, there being three of them. But not at such a late hour.

Thankfully for the world’s media, and the capacity crowd, Federer wasn’t in the mood to have the US Open’s latest-ever finish. Taking six minutes to win the first three games, 12 minutes to win the first five, and 19 to win the first set, Federer even produced what is known on the tour as a ‘poker’ – four aces in a row.

This tournament has not lacked for drama, but it’s largely been thanks to the ladies. Caroline Wozniacki and Svetlana Kuznetsova continued the ‘oh my wow’ trend, contesting an epic over three hours and two minutes.

If ever there was a match to make Wozniacki, it was this one.

“She was a wall and to break a wall you cannot hit hard you have to mix it up…I just couldnt close it,” said a desperate Kuznetsova, who, leading by a set and 4-1, showed at once why she is both enormously talented and enormously frustrating at the same time. You can hit the most beautiful forehand from nowhere off the back of your heels, but 78 unforced errors do not a match win.

Novak Djokovic will be fit for US Open:

World number one Novak Djokovic expects to be fit for the US Open despite being forced to retire from Sunday's Cincinnati final against Andy Murray.

The Serbian pulled out with a shoulder injury after going 6-4 3-0 behind.

But Djokovic hopes to have sufficient time to recover before play begins at Flushing Meadows on 29 August.

"The good thing is that there is a week, eight days to the start of the US Open," he said. "So I think that's enough time for me to get ready."

Djokovic went into Sunday's final having lost just one match - the French Open semi-final against Roger Federer - in 2011, but any hopes of a 10th tournament victory of the year were ended by the shoulder problem.

He received treatment at the end of the first set and attempted to carry on but failed to win another game.
