Manchester United and Manchester City continue their unstoppable run of victories, the two teams seem a notch over the other contestants such as Chelsea and Liverpool.

Wayne Rooney hit a hat-trick and Javier Hernandez scored twice as a rampant Manchester United outclassed Bolton to go top of the Premier League.

The champions took an early lead when Hernandez pounced at the near post.

Rooney converted Phil Jones' cross to make it two, then the England striker profited from another of the defender's runs to add a third.

Hernandez swept in a fourth before Rooney drilled in his third - but Tom Cleverley may have broken his foot.

Crumpling under a heavy challenge from Kevin Davies, the midfielder was replaced midway through the first half.

Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as Manchester City produced a rampant display against Wigan to lead the Premier League.

City were well on top and had chances before Aguero opened the scoring on 13 minutes by shooting into the corner from David Silva's cutback.

Carlos Tevez had a tame penalty saved and Micah Richards and Vincent Kompany hit the woodwork.

But after the hour mark Aguero tucked in twice to seal victory.

Both the Argentine's second-half goals looked simple in their execution, after he was put clear by Samir Nasri and Silva, but in scoring his fifth and sixth goals of the season, Aguero again underlined his class.

Manchester United still favourites for title?

Internet riders believe that Manchester United will retain their Premier League crown this season.

Sir Alex Ferguson told Sports News HD that a possible six teams could win the title this season, but 40 per cent of readers backed United to win their 20th top flight championship.

"I think you could say that five or six teams will be involved," he said.

"It's always hard to win the league. It's a league that if you look at it, in the south you have the London teams like Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea and then you have ourselves, Manchester City and Liverpool in the north.

"It's a really, really difficult league to win."

Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson hard on FA:

Sir Alex Ferguson has accused the Football Association of treating Manchester United unfairly.

The United manager, hit with a five-match touchline ban last season, made the claims while talking about having up to eight players on England duty.

Ferguson, 69, said: "The FA may realise who has produced more players for their country than any club in the world.

"Maybe they will realise how important we are to England instead of treating us like s***."

In March, Ferguson was given a five-match touchline ban and £30,000 fine by the FA for criticising referee Martin Atkinson. He initially received a three-game ban for the remarks and saw a two-game suspended ban he had previously earned for saying referee Alan Wiley was not "fit enough" to keep up with play activated.

The following month, United striker Wayne Rooney was banned for two matches for swearing into a TV camera.
